Wow. And. Wow.
I loved this movie.
I use the app Flixster to locate movies and my local theater showing. It’s the one that shows the rotten tomatoes and the boxes of popcorns to indicate whether the movies are worth going to. I have found that the more the critics dislike a movie (big rotten tomatoes) the more I will like it :). I trust the boxes of popcorn much more – those indicate what other movie goers think about the movie. Popcorn shows what the average Joe enjoys in a good flic!
True to form, The War Room had the rotten tomatoes but high popcorn! I’m not too surprised because it is a faith film directed by the Kendrick Brothers of Facing the Giants (another movie I just loved). It seems that any faith film these days gets shut down by the traditional critics. Granted, they don’t have the budget that the block busters have and the acting isn’t going to win any Academy Awards next year. Yet many of these films are so good! Great entertainment value along with a positive, encouraging message – sounds like a fabulous date night to me 🙂
The War Room is about a marriage in trouble, a gifted prayer warrior mentoring a young woman, a family in crisis, and people in need of repentance, healing and forgiveness. The message is clear and powerful. We, you and me, CAN change our lives and our circumstances through prayer and our relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s the #OneThing. We fight each other, we fight our spouse, we fight our co-workers, we fight our diet, we fight our time, we fight anything and everything when the battle really isn’t with these things or these people. The war is with Satan – and guess what? Jesus has already won!
