I love the colored leaves, the comfy sweaters, cuddling by the fireplace, even the chill in the fresh air. The problem is, fall is just a sign of what is to come. And it’s not warm sunshine on my skin, here in the upper midwest!
So be it, as my Grandpa used to say. Let’s just try to embrace the future and start by decorating the house!
With just a few odds and ends from Hobby Lobby and local farmers, you can create a welcoming fall environment in your own home! For the mantel, all I did was change out some flowers and add some floral leaves and pics but it makes all the difference, don’t you think?
I am still loving the awesome piece of tin that I scored at a local shop. It suits every occasion!
For the rest of the abode, I went with simple vignettes. These are old wine and beer bottles that I spray painted candy corn style.
All of my pumpkins are made from left over fabric cut into large circles and gathered together at the stem. Add a bit of rolled up burlap or a discarded branch and voila! Cute pumpkin decor that can be made in a multitude of sizes! 🙂
In the dining room, I usually like to go with a large table scape / centerpiece thingy. This year I decided to simplify.
Thanks to one of my besties for the great birch candle holders! Just put them on a plate, add some nuts and flowers and you are good to go! Plus, now I even have room to add some food when we have family or friends for dinner! What a novel idea, right?
After bringing all this fall fun into the house, I decided to add a little outside also!
I just love how the flower boxes turned out. You can totally do this! Pumpkins, gourds, a few floral pieces, and some sticks from the yard and you have changed the whole look of the place.
As you can tell, I don’t like things too matchy, matchy. Every one of my window boxes is different. I love the surprise of that. I think its appealing to the eye and adds some curiosity and interest to our home.
