Last week a very special woman I know left this Earth for heaven at the ripe old age of 91. She was one of those women who exuded joy every time she smiled. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her joy, her wit, and her intelligence.
What an amazing life she must have had.
After her stroke, she was unable to swallow and unable to eat or drink. As you can imagine, this was very difficult for her family. Then, the hospice nurse made the following statement:
“She is not dying because she cannot drink,
she cannot drink because she is dying.”
Not only is this brilliant wisdom, but it really gave me pause.
How often do we mix up the cause and effect of a given situation?
Are you an introvert because you are not meeting people? Or are you not meeting people because you are an introvert?
Are you fat because you eat too much? Or do you eat too much because you are fat?
Does Jesus love you because you love? Or do you love because He loves you?
Do you see the incredible difference here? How things are framed can give us a new clarity that we did not imagine was possible. How things are framed can give us a new clarity that we did not imagine was possible. Click To Tweet
Instead of an excuse, there is a reality.
Are you facing the reality?
There is only one truth and unless we look at the cause and effect properly, we might miss it.
Jesus loves you. Not because you love Him,
but just because He does.
It’s called GRACE.
According to Webster’s 1928 Dictionary;
The free unmerited love and favor of God, the spring, and source of all the benefits men receive from him.
That is the truth. And how the truth is framed makes all the difference doesn’t it?
The truth is… Grace.
