Let’s face it, it is hard work to find the perfect Valentine’s gift for your man. I mean, is Valentine’s day even about them? Of course, it is! Today I am sharing a great Valentines gift that you will enjoy creating and your man will enjoy receiving. Sounds like a win-win to me!
About a month ago, I participated in The 25 Movies of Christmas Blog Hop where we each chose a movie and designed a craft/DIY project/recipe/whatever related to the movie. It was so fun that we decided to make it a monthly thing. Woot Woot!
Welcome to the Movie Monday Challenge!
Being that February is Valentine’s month, a month for lovers and all, we are celebrating the fabulous cult classic The Princess Bride.
If you have not seen this movie, it is truly “inconceivable” and I recommend you rush to your Netflix queue and add it. Like tonight.
The Princess Bride is the story of Buttercup and Westley and finding true love. From the very beginning of the movie Westley says the sweetest thing to Buttercup, “As you wish.”
And really, isn’t that what we want to say? “As you wish.” “I love you.” So without further ado,
A Princess Bride inspired Valentine’s gift for your man!
Here is what you will need.
- A paper mache box with lid
- Craft paper
- Mod Podge
- Scissors – both regular and decorative
- Ribbon or trim
- Hot glue gun
- Kisses both chocolate and real 🙂
Once you have gathered all your supplies. Use your favorite font to print “As you wish…” onto decorative paper. I printed on white first to make sure I was getting the size I wanted to fit on the top of my box.
Using the box lid as a pattern, trace and cut the decorative “As you wish…” paper to size.
As careful as I was, I was unable to make this the EXACT size needed for the box lid. But don’t worry about that, it is super easy to trim later to fit :).
Next, I just used Mod Podge to attach this “As you wish…” paper to the top of the lid. And then repeated the process for the bottom of the inside of my box.
Hearts galore for my man! Nothing says Valentine’s Day like hearts!
I love trim! Tassels, fringe, ribbon, any kind of trim. A craft of mine, would not be complete without a bit of trim 🙂
I found this cute trim at Walmart in the craft section for next to nothing and just added it to the box lid for a little extra Je ne sais quoi? ( that means something that cannot be described, just in case you were wondering!)
Now for the cheeky part. I’ve created this awesome printable Princess Bride Inspired Coupons for you to use. There are 12 “As you wish…” certificates for you to use as Valentine’s gift for your man. Eight of them are filled in with luscious and fun ideas for fun “treats” for your valentine. I’ve also included four more that are blank. Feel free to fill them in with whatever your imagination comes up with – no judgment here. 🙂
And to make it even a bit more fun, each coupon has a special quote from The Princess Bride for you and your Valentine to giggle and ponder. Too fun, right?
I just used a swirly scissors to cut them out and then attached them to some card stock for added strength and contrast.
Lastly, I added a handful of Hershey Kisses to the mix. Every Valentine is improved with a few kisses, don’t you agree?
And that’s it – easy peasy, right? One Princess Bride inspired Valentine’s gift for your man – and mine! Have fun with it!
